Welcome to the DirectScale Developer Glossary. Below, you'll find an alphabetical list of important terms you may encounter while navigating our Developer Site.
A
Azure
A comprehensive set of cloud services that DirectScale uses to build, deploy, and manage applications through Microsoft’s global data centers network.
B
Back Office
A DirectScale internal reference to the Associate-facing Web Office. Also known as the Distributor Portal.
C
Client Library
A group of functions that enable a client to develop quickly and easily without having to know the details.
CloudSpark
An internal term for any applications to support the Web Office (aka Back Office). Examples include the Web Office Admin and Web Office.
Configuration
Settings that can be altered through the DirectScale Web Portal(s). For example, the fields to enter extension URLs in the extension Pages, Events, Hooks, and Merchants sections to configure client extensibility.
Corp Admin
Short for Corporate Admin. Also known as Disco.
Corporate Admin
The DirectScale web portal hosted at [CLIENTID].corpadmin.directscale.com
. Also known as Corp Admin or Disco.
D
Disco
The DirectScale Commissions Service and an internal reference to the Corporate Admin. Also known as Corp Admin or Data & Commissions.
E
eCommerce Admin
The admin application for the eCommerce Shop hosted at [CLIENTID].retailadmin.directscale.com
. Also known as the Retail Admin.
eCommerce Shop
Serves as the storefront and promotional website for the client. Also known as the Retail Shop.
Endpoint
A fully qualified URL.
P
Platform
An all-encompassing term used to describe multiple applications like Corporate Admin (Disco) and Web Office (CloudSpark) as one complete package.
Process Hook
A synchronous Hook that allows external applications to alter or override DirectScale business logic.
Product
Refers to a single application, like Corporate Admin (Disco) or Web Office (CloudSpark).
Production
The environment in use by the end users of DirectScale products.
R
Retail Shop
Serves as the storefront and promotional website for the client. Also known as the eCommerce Shop.
Route
A relative path of a URL.
S
Saas
Software as a service.
SSO
Single Sign-On.
Stage
The environment used for staging and testing changes made to DirectScale products prior to making changes in production.
V
Vendor
A third-party company that provides goods or services to your company.
W
Webhook
An API built to receive calls from the DirectScale system when a given event occurs in that system.
Web Office
The Associate-facing client application. Also known as Back Office.
Web Office Admin
The admin application for Web Office hosted at [CLIENTID].admin.directscale.com
. Also known as CloudSpark.
Web Portal
A website where users may log in and perform a variety of functions or tasks as it's related to their role.
